We’re just a day away from the kick off of the NMRA Spring Break Shootout and the 2015 drag racing season for Ford fans. Over the past few weeks we’ve brought you several reports of racers testing before the start of the season. This week we received the latest report from Justin and Rebecca Starkey over at VMP Tuning.
Rebecca is going racing in NMRA’s Coyote Modified class this year. Running a Gen II VMP 2.3-liter supercharger on her Ford Racing Coyote Aluminator equipped Mustang GT, the fairer of the Starkey clan is looking to make some waves in this highly competitive class. Of course Rebecca’s husband and VMP head honcho, Justin, is handling the tuning duties on the car.
Last weekend Rebecca was testing her car getting the suspension and other changes dialed in for the first big race of the 2015 season. The car is running BMR suspension components and TRZ AFCO shocks. While she and Justin wouldn’t reveal any ETs to us, they did tell us the car is 60-footing a 1.269 and was consistent in that range. Considering that they’re running a stock torque converter on the 6R80 transmission, 3.55 gears, and Mickey Thompson ET Drag Radial Pros, those times are more than impressive. Most racers have switched to an aftermarket converter, if not a completely different transmission to run this class.
VMP is also sponsoring the Terminator vs GT500 shootout at this race, where some of the hottest and fastest Mustangs in the country will face off. The Spring Break Shootout is this weekend at Bradenton Motorsports Park, and if you can’t make it to the race, just keep checking back at StangTV for the latest updates.
