1320 Video recently witnessed what could have been another disaster in street racing. They took a trip to Los Angeles to check out the local street racing scene. Not surprisingly, they discovered street racing still remains active in it’s place of origin.

At the races they spotted a late model Mustang that was powered by a F1-X procharged 5.0l engine. This stang had 680 whp and it was going to race a 60’s Chevy C10. C10 was powered by a 572 crate motor with two shots of nitrous. The horsepower specs on the C10 are unknown but 1320 estimates over 1000 horses.

Both cars did large burnouts which covered the streets in a cloud of smoke. They lined up to race and while Idling the C10 died… Luckily, the driver was able to restarted the truck and both cars were given the go. The C10 didn’t hook right off the line, it violently served to the left and almost collided with the Mustang.

As it continued down to street, the C10 still couldn’t gain traction and swerved violently to right almost on to the side walk and back to the left almost hitting the Mustang a second time. After this the driver was able to regain control and he take off ahead of the blue oval for the win. After the race ended the crowd began to scatter as the police were about to show up. (They most likely heard on a police scanner, as no sirens could be heard).

Thankfully the drivers of both cars were were able to avoid what could have been a major catastrophe. Luckily this race didn’t turnout like the Corvette Stoplight Disaster that we saw last year. We do not condone street racing here at Street Legal TV, but we enjoy watching fast cars. Be safe, and please find a track if you must drag race.
