Even the cheapest car isn’t “cheap”, requiring thousands of dollars not just to buy, but maintain, fuel, and insure as well. It stands to reason that, should you need to transport your car without actually driving it somewhere, an investment in a towing or professional transport service is probably the right move. But for whatever reason, some people would rather risk their ride to save a few bucks, and eventually, somebody’s luck is going to run out.
Amazingly, the owner of this late-model Ford Mustang GT decided a moving truck was a cheaper and better option for moving his Mustang than a tow truck. He manages to make it three-quarters of the way into the truck before a heavy right foot sends the ramps out from underneath the wheels, leaving the Mustang’s rear end hanging out the back of the box truck. And of course, it’s all on video.
Somebody whipping out their phone to capture this transportation attempt on video should have been the driver’s second warning that this was probably a bad idea. The first warning would probably have been on somewhere on the contract or truck saying that transporting vehicles in the box was a really, really bad idea. Nevertheless he soldiered on towards the predictable, disastrous ending you see here.
Without knowing the full story it’s hard to justify the driver’s reasoning, and his execution was just a physics lesson in action. At the end of the day though, his $30,000+ Mustang almost certainly needs some costly repairs, and the truck’s loading lip took a hammering too. Penny wise and pound foolish, as the old saying goes.
