Ford first got into the sport truck market back in the mid-90’s with the SVT Lightning Pickup. The Lightning left us in 2004, and while a third generation was planned, it never came to be. That left SVT with some time on their hands to pursue their next sport truck, the SVT Raptor, which was a huge departure from the Lightning. Meant more for off-roading than drag racing, the Raptor is an impressive machine…that could do with some forced induction.

Livernois Motorsports went above and beyond supercharging the Raptor’s 6.2 liter V8, instead building a new custom motor with twin turbochargers and over 600 rear-wheel horsepower. Can you say yummy? Livernois outlines all the modifications on the YouTube video page, but the centerpiece is a 400 cubic-inch mod motor fitted with twin turbochargers. The cylinder heads were CNC’d, though the camshafts were left stock. The turbos are GT-35R’s, and the extra power necessitated a rocker braceand new valves.

But this is still an off-road truck, and so the modifications extend to the chassis as well. Among the modifications were custom long-travel coil overs, a hydraulic bump-stop system, frame reinforcement, and even a custom tube bumper. But really, we’re here for the twin-turbo 6.6 liter V8 engine. It makes a mean truck downright terrifying. On the dyno, the final numbers (at the wheels) were 601 horsepower and 660 ft-lbs of torque, almost doubling the stock horsepower and torque.
