Jared Rosen and his team at Lethal Performance are no strangers to fast street cars; in fact, it’s what they spend the majority of their day dealing with through Lethal’s vast customer base. So when a new platform from Ford debuts they often pick up a brand-new example to throw the proverbial kitchen sink at, trying to find the weakest link in the chain to better educate their customers. Well, they’ve been working with the 2013 GT500 platform for a while and just yesterday cranked off an incredible 9.39 at over 147 mph at Palm Beach International Raceway to lay claim to the “World’s Quickest 2013 GT500” title – for a while at least. “This car has bone stock suspension, gear, transmission, etc. No anti-roll, nothing. It’s a real street car with a ton of power,” explained tuner Ken Bjonnes of Lund Racing.
The car features a built engine from Tim Eichhorn and his MPR Racing Engines facility. As a longtime competitor in the NMRA’s Hot Street class, ‘Ike’ knows a little something about making horsepower, and we’re sure all of his tricks went into this beast. One of Whipple Superchargers‘ massive 4.0L Twin Screw superchargers on top, creating nearly ten liters of total displacement and who-knows-how-much boost; the end result is an insane package that makes an unreal amount of horsepower. As always, Rosen and Lethal Performance rely on UPR Products Sales Manager and multi-time drag racing champion Jeremy Martorella to wheel the machine, and the man responded with an awesome performance.
Bjonnes built the tuneup for this beast with SCT software, while all of the physical work was performed by Jake Long and Power By The Hour Performance in Boynton Beach, Florida. The car uses American Racing Headers, JLT Performance induction pieces, and DivisionX fuel system parts. All of these items are for sale at Lethal Performance, and if you’ve got a GT500 it’s obvious they know how to help you go fast. Of course, us Northerners are quite jealous of our Southern friends who are racing in February, but videos like this take a little bit of the sting away. Congrats on the great performance!
