Billed as the most powerful Shelby Mustang ever, the Shelby 1000 is Carroll Shelby’s last, and arguably greatest creation. It is so powerful, so incredible, that only two have even been built. Putting together these incredible machines requires a ton of precision engineering that isn’t unlike the precision required in world class clocks and watches.
Watchmaker David Yurman has created a limited edition timepiece to celebrate the Shelby 1000, and Jalopnik came across this video of Yurman hooning the hell out of this 950 horsepower beast. But there’s so much more to this video than just tire shredding and roaring engines.
The video begins with what we assume is the assembly of the Shelby 1000’s super-beefy engine. Everything gets remade in order to ensure the reliability and insane horsepower output, up to 1,100 ponies. Every single piece of this engine must be perfect; if even one thing is off, it could mean total and utter automotive annihilation.
It simply won’t work if it isn’t done right…just like a watch. Speaking of watches, Yurman is offering a limited edition Shelby 1000 watch for the low, low price of $8,600. Don’t wait, reserve yours now!
That said, if you’re more interesting in watching the Shelby 1000 in action, just skip ahead to the 1-minute 30 second mark. That is when things get…fun. Watching and hearing the Shelby 1000 roar through red canyons and melt asphalt beneath its tires is enough to make us as jealous as we’ve ever been. This is a car few people will ever experience…we hope Yurman appreciated his time behind the wheel.
