Usually when somebody mentions a retractable hardtop, import cars are the first to come to mind for most people. What about a domestic convertible hardtop Ford Mustang? Galpin Auto Sports, or G.A.S., teamed up with Adjwok Designs based out of Malta, Europe to create this attention-grabbing Orange Pearl painted Mustang complete with retracting top.
G.A.S. built this and brought it to the SEMA 2010 show. As I’m sure you already know, The G.A.S. team are definitely no strangers to amazing custom builds as you have probably seen their crazy high quality builds on the show Pimp My Ride featured on MTV.
We’ve posted photos of this sweet ‘Stang already but thanks to Mustangs Daily we now have a video of the retracting hardtop in action. In this video, they show just how the the hard top convertible goes from a ‘vert and back to a sleek coupe in just under a minute. This would be a nice OEM option from Ford as you’d get the best of both worlds between coupe and convertible. Don’t run to any Ford dealership looking for one, though. Unless you get it custom made, you’ll have to settle for the normal soft top.
In addition to the awesome hardtop convertible option, this bad boy also features black custom leather interior with orange pinstripes, 20-inch black chrome staggered wheels, Ford Racing Suspension kit, Classic Design Concepts front spoiler and an exhaust system by Magnaflow. How great would it be to cruise in style with the top down while unleashing that 5.0L V8 engine? That’s a mean 412-HP powered by a six-speed transmission.
