The Goodguys Rod and Custom Association brings some of the best car shows in the nation to cities all over the USA. With no fewer than 19 events being held this year alone, chances are there’s a Goodguys show within driving distance for most enthusiasts.
Aside from the variety of stunning show cars, and American built muscle cars on display, as well as exhibits by participating vendors and sponsors, there’s the Goodguys Autocross held at many events. Whether you’re a veteran, or you’ve never put your street machine through the cones, we recommend this event to almost anyone.
For those who don’t know, autocross is a mini road course, set up using cones. Cars participate one at at time, and speeds typically never get above what you’d see cruising down the road. The challenge is not from the speed but from executing the tight turns and course layout in a decent amount of time.
There’s even a points system for the serious competitors in each class, and the Autocross is held at 16 of the 19 events this year, with the finals being held at the 16th Southwest Nationals in Scottsdale, Arizona this November.
Goodguys recently put together a montage of some hot Fords taking to the autocross. The video contains exterior, in-car, and on-car footage, and should get any enthusiast’s blood pumping. Check it out as everything from a GT40, and Cobra replicas, to purpose built Mustangs, even a new BOSS 302 do their best to make it through the cones quickly. If you haven’t tried autocross, a Goodguys event is a great place to do it, and an exciting way to safely enjoy one more aspect of your car’s performance safely, in a controlled environment. Check out the video, or better yet head over to a nearby Goodguys event and participate yourself.
