Going quicker at the drag strip can be as simple as adding a few more pounds of boost, kicking up the timing a bit, or shaving some weight off the car. But if you’re working with a car that weighs over 4,000 lbs. getting the boat to move down the track in a swift manner is no easy task — in fact, you’re probably looking at a conglomeration of all three processes to step up the performance.

This Ford Fairlane from Australia may look like grandma’s ride to church, but this big body car is packing enough punch to run deep into the 10s on all motor.

The Ford Fairlane had a pretty strong run in the United States from 1955-1970, but most people didn’t know the car was also produced in Australia until 2007. Keeping the same build life as its American counterpart, the Australian Fairlane started out as a smaller car and grew in size, eventually into a larger full-sized EFI car in its later generations.

In this video from FullBoost, we get to see a nasty, beastly big block Fairlane that’s packing 545 cubic inches of blue oval power under that billboard-sized hood that makes over 800 horsepower to the wheels. The Tim Howard-built big block Ford engine has a solid roller cam and P51 Kaase heads that flow lots of air and plenty of E85 fuel. A Powerglide transmission puts all that power though a custom four-link suspension and helps the big car run well into the tens, with a best of 10.13 at 140 miles per hour. Running low 10s at over 4,000 pounds is impressive and this Fairlane makes it look easy and word on the street is this car will be getting a hit of nitrous in the near future.  Imagine how fast this land yacht will go after it gets the giggle juice flowing!
