Video: A Lap Of The Circuit Of The Americas With Jack Roush Jr.

This last weekend marked the second race of the Grand Am season, with teams and racers converging on Austin, Texas to watch the motorsports action on the all-new Circuit of the Americas. Among them is a racing outfit under the banner of ROUSH Performance and headed by Jack Roush Jr. Like many teams, Jack Roush Jr. took the week before the race to get in some practice laps, testing both the car and the track before this weekend’s big event.

Roush decided to share a warm-up lap on YouTuvbe, giving those of us who can’t attend the event a tour of America’s latest and greatest race track. As you might expect, Jack is piloting his Boss 302 Mustang, which he hopes to take to victory once again.

Having one the season opener at the 24 Hours of Daytona, Jack Roush Jr. and teammate Billy Johnson have gotten off to a great start. But the Circuit of the Americas is a brand new track, one that has yet to host a Grand Am race until this weekend. That means all the drivers will be on unfamiliar territory, this new track having opened only in October of 2012.

While Formula One racers like Lewis Hamilton have praised the track’s construction, they have also noted that they think it will be more difficult to learn. From what we can see from Jack’s video, the circuit looks anything but easy. But with all of their racing experience, Jack’s team could be the first to take victory in their class at the Circuit of the Americas. And there can only ever be one first.
