The 2011 Grand Am racing season kicked off just last month at the Daytona Speedway where racers and cars from all over the world gathered to compete in this epic event. Among the competitors were many Ford Mustangs, including the new Mustang 302R racing Mustang. While the Multimatic Motorsports BOSS 302R Mustang didn’t manage to capture the overall win (instead coming in a close 2nd place after fighting back from a multi-lap deficit), the BOSS Mustangs put on an impressive show that surely has the other racers looking over their shoulder.
Mustangs Daily came across this video from Multimatic Motorsports from inside their BOSS 302R Mustang during a few laps of the Daytona race.
The sad fact of the matter is that this is the closest most of us will ever get to a BOSS 302R Mustang, as these handful of racing cars are highly desirable and extremely rare, even in racing circles. So to get this kind of first-person view from inside this race-built automobile is pretty damn cool if you ask us.
At the Daytona track the racers reach speeds of up to 170 mph. Hearing the new 5.0 liter BOSS engine screaming at over 7,000 RPM while pushing the limits of its top speed is a sweet mechanical symphony These eight minutes of footage from inside the 2nd-place finishing Mustang are a bittersweet reminder that first and second place often comes down to a matter of seconds, but well worth watching.
