We see no shortage of Mustang crashes, races, videos, and all of that good stuff, but that doesn’t mean that they’ve become any less interesting to watch whether it’s driver error or car malfunctions. With that being said, check out this video of what seemed like a smooth day at the track.
The guy in this video, driver Andrew Gleason, was incredibly lucky while driving his ’94 Ford Mustang GT around the track at Shenandoah. While taking on the course during a good run, the steering wheel appears to come loose from the quick release while negotiating a turn on the track sending Gleason barreling into the wall. It could have been much worse, and the car will be salvaged, unlike many other crash videos.
As you see from the video, the driver was completely fine. He seemed to be more frustrated with the fact that his steering wheel came off causing him to wreck his Mustang. That’s completely understandable. It seemed like the Adam and his SN95 were having a super smooth run until the unfortunate steering wheel malfunction. It must be completely terrifying to be in that situation with no way to control your vehicle at a high rate of speed.
It’s safe to say that you never know what can happen out on the track no matter how good the outside conditions are. Just be aware of your surroundings and as corny as this may sound, bring your safety equipment. While his helmet may not have been completely necessary for survival here, it definitely didn’t hurt.
