Last week we brought you news that the 2015 Mustang was heading down the assembly line. We had a few photos from Ford along with some details from the press release. This week we came across two videos from Mustang6g that show the Mustang coming down the Flat Rock assembly line.
The first video, featured above is the better of the two, showing the Mustang making its way though various stages of assembly. You can see the car being held by large pieces of equipment prior to having its suspension and wheels installed. We noticed on at least one of the cars that had yet to have its rocker trim installed “S550” written in an inconspicuous location where it will later be covered by the rocker trim. Will this be one of those marks that restorers look for 50 years from now? Who knows, but it was cool to see regardless.
While Ford has said that the convertible Mustang will not be available until later this year, we noticed at least one convertible GT in the video. The car was wearing the 50th anniversary appearance package, and we’re unsure of why this car was built already. It could be going to a Ford executive, or even for further testing before the release of the S550 droptop.
The second video is primarily a speech given by Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s President of the Americas. Henrich is giving the usual pride in our product, made in the USA, gonna sell it globally speech. We also get to see a finished GT roll off the Flat Rock assembly line in front of a crowd of assembly line workers, and waiting media.
It’s cool to see the next generation Mustang heading down the assembly line, soon to be on its way to owners in the USA and later around the world.
