Video: 2013 Cobra Jet Track Testing By Ford Racing

Ford Racing is really putting some rubber down on the track with not one, but two 2013 Cobra Jets. They occupied Palm Beach International Raceway for two days to vigorously test out these bad boys. The engineers ran one Cobra Jet that is a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter and the other equipped with a supercharger, whereas the previous generation S197 Cobra Jets have been powered by a 5.4-liter mill.

Unveiled at the Performance Racing Industry show down in Orlando, Florida, the 2013 Cobra Jet is one hell of a track-car designed for NHRA Stock and Super Stock competitions. Along with the new model unveiling, improvements were unveiled as well in the form of an improved suspension, better steering and brakes, a newly designed roll cage, and Cobra Jet graphics. Engine improvements now include a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter with a Cobra Jet induction system, CNC ported heads, high-lift cams and low-drag accessory drive. A supercharged 5.0-liter Cobra Jet model was also introduced and will feature CNC port-matched manifold and heads.

Anybody in the market for a 2013 Cobra Jet will have to wait until June when production begins. Better start pulling some strings soon since only 50 actual Cobra Jet Mustangs will be produced. If you’re looking to buy the naturally aspirated Cobra Jet, you’re looking to shell out about $86,000 big ones. If you’re looking for the even more powerful supercharged variant, you’re looking to pay a nice $93,000.

Ford is also selling Cobra Jet parts through their Ford Racing Performance parts network for anyone looking to add some of the Cobra Jet parts to their existing Ford Mustang.
