We’re not sure what GM was intent on doing when it went ahead and created the 570 horsepower Camaro ZL1. Did they think they would beat out the Shelby GT500? Or were they aiming for the Boss 302 Mustang? Because it is clear that the Shelby GT500 dominates the Camaro in raw horsepower. But surely the supercharged ZL1 can handle the naturally aspirated Boss 302 Mustang, right? Right?

Wrong, as this next video shows. Some enthusiasts from both Ford and Chevy camps went out to settle, once and for all, who has the baddest muscle car…and while we usually hate spoilers, we’ll tell you right now, it’s all Mustang, all day.

How, you ask, can a naturally aspirated, 440 horsepower 5.0 in the Boss 302 Mustang possibly beat the supercharged 6.2 liter V8 in the Camaro ZL1? Not only is the Camaro’s engine bigger, but it has a freakin’ supercharger. All the Boss Mustang gets is a JLT intake, a 3-inch X-pipe, and an AED tune. Compared to a supercharger system, that’s like bringing a knife to a gun fight.

But it matters not to the Boss, who tackles the Camaro ZL1 from a 40 mph roll not once, but twice. Had this race gone from a dig, the Camaro’s extra torque might have changed the outcome…but what excuse do the Bowtie boys have for losing to the Boss? Imagine instead if the Mustang had been a Shelby GT500…it wouldn’t have been even close.
