Video: 1,200+ Wheel Horsepower Shelby GT500 On The Dyno

At 1,227.5 horsepower and 1,176.8 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels, we can only assume the owner has some serious meaty tires to back up all of that power.

During our adventures searching for great content to bring our fellow enthusiasts, we came across YouTube user High Tech Corvette‘s video featuring a built ’14 Shelby GT500, which was able to lay down a solid 1,227.5 horsepower and 1,176.8 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels on the dyno. The video above consists of two separate dyno pulls while performing a test and tune session at the Houston Performance Driving dyno events in Houston, Texas.

The GT500 features a lot of modifications to achieve that 1,200+ horsepower to the wheels. The OEM supercharger has been ditched in favor of a new Mammoth Series 3.6 liter liquid cooled twin-screw supercharger from Kenne Bell, Diamond Racing forged aluminum pistons, and an entire new fuel system (including a new fuel cell that has been relocated to the trunk of the GT500) has been integrated to keep up with the massive amount of air that is now being fed into it.

The car also utilizes a stock rear-end. However, after participating in the Texas Mile, his GT500 was only able to hit a top speed of 204 mph. The owner plans to switch the rear-end gearing to a 2.73 soon now that he’s running a 200-shot of NOS, which he explains the combination should be capable of 1,300+ horsepower to the wheels.

But of all the upgrades this GT500 has, we think the coolest part of this car is that it’s daily driven. The owner explains that although the car is methanol injected, it’s tuned for E85 on the street. We think it’s awesome that the owner is shooting for a new MPH record for the Texas Mile competition.
