What did you learn in driving school? Not much, we’d wager, given the poor state of driving in America. The thing about accidents is that most, if not all of them, are completely avoidable. Whether its poor vehicle maintenance, excessive speed, or poor decision making, all too many fatal accidents could have been prevented by someone simply being a better driver.
These factors and others likely contributed to the fiery crash of a Ford GT by Jalopnik via WOODTV. Yet by some miracle both men have survived the accident which completely consumed the Ford they were riding in.
The accident occurred on a road in Norto Shores, Michigan, where 52-year old Thomas Devoursney was driving his 2006 Ford GT at a high rate of speed. Exactly how fast he was going we don’t know, but when another driver turned in front of him, Devoursney had to swerve to avoid the car, veering across five lanes of traffic before smashing into a telephone poll – the Ford GT bursting into flames. The only way it could have been worse was if the GT had hit a gas pump at the gas station just a few yards away.
Passersby jumped into action, dousing the flames that engulf Devoursney and pulling passenger Anthony Wilson from the wreckage. The extent of the two’s injuries are yet unknown, but after seeing the aftermath and wreckage, we’d say they’re lucky to even be in one piece, nevermind still alive. We hope they both pull through…which is more than we can hope for the $150,000 Ford GT.
