The world of motorsports never slows down, and there’s always a new track to race or championship to try and win. And while some race car drivers are keen on making one particular event or type of race work for them, others are willing to take on entirely different challenges on their way to the podium.
Former Formula Drift racer and stunt driver Tony Brakohiapa has announced that he will return to his home state of Colorado to compete in the annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, and he’ll do so in a 1,000 horsepower supercharged Mustang. In fact, it’s the same Mustang that Brakohiapa drove in the Formula Drift series, and should prove quite capable of tackling the famous mountain race.
In his off time, Brakohiapa has been providing stunt driving work for Driver’s Inc., an established stunt driving network that includes other Pikes Peak competitors like Rhys Millen. Brakohiapa was most recently credited with stunt work in the new Need For Speed movie, and he’s obviously got an affinity for the Ford Mustang.
Packing a Vortech Supercharger and powered by Ignite ethanol racing fuel, Tony’s S197 Mustang is said to be good for at least 1,000 horsepower. Though set up for drifting, it won’t take much work to make this Mustang a viable hill climber. Can Tony climb to the top of Pikes Peak in his 1,000 horsepower pony car?
