Silver Sport Transmissions took to YouTube recently to showcase a beautiful 1976 F-100 equipped with its new Tremec TKO five-speed PerfectFit kit and hydraulic actuator kit. Jeff Kauffman, Silver Sport Transmissions VP of Sales and Marketing, brought us along for the ride.
Silver Sport Transmissions PerfectFit Kits are advertised as being the “simplest and most cost-effective way to convert to a modern overdrive.” The case and tailhousings of the transmission are CNC-machined to create a streamlined final product, and the included compact shifters provide seamless fit and quality.
As we watch Jeff row through the gears in the old ’76, it’s obvious just how smooth the Ford truck shifts. At one point, Jeff is shifting with one finger, showcasing an ease of use that wouldn’t have been possible with the original Toploader four-speed.
Jeff also reminds us that Silver Sport Transmissions allow for flexible shifter location. In essence, you can position the shifter where you find it most comfortable during installation.
Silver Sport Transmissions promises that when you convert to the company’s Tremec TKO five-speed transmissions, you’ll enjoy a 30- to 50-percent increase in fuel economy, as well as low-RPM cruising in comfort, reduced engine wear, cooler operating temperatures, plus reduced noise, vibration, and harshness. The TKO 500 can handle 600 lb-ft of torque, and 6,200-rpm shifts, and it also comes with a one-year warranty.
The PerfectFit Conversion Kits include all of the necessary parts to convert Ford Mustangs, Gran Torinos, Fairlanes, trucks, and more into a comfortable and modern overdrive five- or six-speed. Yes, a Tremec Magnum six-speed transmission kits are also available.
