Ask any Blue Oval enthusiast how many 1969 Ford Torino Talladega models were produced, and you’ll probably get one of two answers. Some claim that Ford only produced 750 examples, while others attest that the “official” production number was 754. Regardless of which one you believe it was, the Talladega and Spoiler Registry has accounted for 750 units officially – and you’re looking at what is believed to be number 749 of that list.
This showroom racecar is finished in one of the Blue Oval’s late ’60s classic hues, Royal Maroon, and features a Q-Code 428 cubic-inch Cobra Jet engine option. As such, this one-of-a-kind Torino is paired with an automatic transmission capable of putting down all of that horsepower and torque, which is a C6 select-shift Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed.
Power front disc brakes, as well as a power steering rack and pinion, keep things stable in the big musclecar – while competition suspension, heavy-duty shocks and stabilizer bars keep this Torino Talladega planted around every corner. The car also features some trick cast aluminum valve covers and an extra cooling package, and the color-keyed racing mirrors (along with a special aerodynamic-designed grille, hood and front and rear bumpers) really gives this Torino is a unique look for that year.
The original Barrett-Jackson ad details that the car has undergone a precise “nut-and-bolt restoration to exacting standards,” and even includes a deluxe Marti Report. The car, which is headed to auction as soon as this weekend (April 6th – April 8th), will be available for bidding at the Palm Beach, Florida, Barrett-Jackson auction.
