Motorsports competition is a tough environment, both from a competition and a financial standpoint. Finding sponsors for any endeavor can be difficult, especially in these still rocky economic times. Last month we told you about Courtney Barber and Lori Sumlin, Team Mustang Girls, and their efforts to get ready for the 2013 Bullrun Rally from Montreal to New Orleans.
Their search for sponsors is still on, and with only a few weeks left to gather enough cash to make the trip, the clock is ticking on whether these girls will even get to make the rally this year.
A sponsor recently fell through on their commitment to the team, sending their plans into a tailspin. Not the type to be easily discouraged, Barber looked around for inspiration. She told us she thought about asking for donations, but something about that just didn’t sit well with her. Pride aside, Barber did come up with the idea of holding a raffle for some unique Team Mustang Girls items. Those items include the swag that all Bullrun participants receive, as well as several Mustang parts from Barber’s car (which we’re sure the girls would be happy to autograph), Bullrun lanyards, and more items that will be announced as the rally unfolds.
Winners will be chosen daily during each leg of the rally, which runs from June 1-7, and the winners will be notified daily as well as announced on the the Team Mustang Girls Facebook page.
Proceeds from the raffle will be used to help cover entry fees and the associated travel expenses that go along with participation in the rally. At just five-dollars per ticket, the asking price is more than reasonable for fans of the Bullrun, Mustangs, and especially female Mustang fans.
