Kenny Brown has been around the Ford world so long, it’s hard to remember when he wasn’t. Barring some health issues that sidelined the Indianapolis-based Mustang performance guru for a time, his presence and that of his top flight line of performance accessories has provided an unwavering benchmark for others.

Brown was responsible for the domination of Saleen Mustangs in the Escort Endurance Racing Series in 1987 and had previous experience with March cars. The years since then have seen steady business and ever growing respect for KB-branded products.

Never one to settle on nice showroom displays for his products, Brown remained an avid racer and built many high performance road cars out of the Indianapolis facility. One of those was this CSR-69 Concept Racer, based on the at-the-time new 2005 Mustang GT. Originally built for the SEMA Show that year, the car was also a rolling test bed for his new products for the S197 Mustang.

Structural issues were always forst and foremost for Brown, who started the build of this car with a 6-Point Super Street roll cage, KB Strut Tower Brace, KB Lower Chassis Brace and signature KB Jacking Rails. Upgraded chassis components included Ford Racing 14-inch front brakes, along with ZX3R three-piece racing wheels and Pirelli PZero Corsa tires.

Ford Racing components found under the hood include long tube headers, high flow x-pipe and mufflers, a higher capacity aluminum radiator and an air conditioning eliminator kit. The unique look of the car comes from a unique fastback styling package that was being brought to market at the time. Very few actually made it into use, so this truly makes Kenny’s car a unique one.

This low mileage car is going to auction later this Spring. The Mecum Auctions’ Indy Spring Classic event rolls into the Indiana State Fairgrounds for the 24th time, starting on May 17 for six days. The winning bidder for this CSR-69 Mustang will also receive a complementary guest admission to the upcoming Kenny Brown 25th Anniversary Reunion. The reunion takes place in September at Putnam Park just outside Indy and includes a car show, two-day track event and on-track instruction with Kenny himself.
