We all know someone that has a Mustang that needs paint, but they can’t scrape up the money for the paint job, or they have decent paint on their Stang and just want something different. Obviously, painting an entire car is expensive and permanent and what many people really want is a way to change the looks of their ride at a decent price without spending a fortune. For folks like this a vinyl wrap might be the perfect thing.
The cool part about vinyl is that if the driver gets tired of the wrap or if the driver wants to sell or go back to stock, the vinyl will peel right off the car and won’t harm the paint at all. That means you can apply the wrap and just peel it off as you would with stripes or stickers. I am sure peeling off that much vinyl would take lots of work and copious amounts of adhesive remover, but it would be much easier than reverting to the factory paint color after a re-spray.
The big downside to a vehicle wrap like the flat black one you see in these photos is that none of the wraps I have ever seen cover inside the door jams. If you are the car show type that likes to show your car with the hood and trunk open, that will leave the factory color showing. I will say from experience that flat black vinyl can be a pain to take care of, so if you are seriously considering a wrap like this video shows, beware matte black is to me a bigger handful to care for than a black car. The total cost for this wrap on the 11 GT in the video was about $2,700.
