It’s no secret these days that Ford is pumping out some factory hotrods that respond nothing short of awesome with bolt-ons, and better yet, Ford Racing is doing everything they can to provide some awesome Ford-approved modification packages. With 540 HP rolling out the showroom door, the 2010 GT500 is already pretty damn impressive in stock form but hey, who could turn down the opportunity of a lifetime to go with Ford Racing’s 750HP-rated supercharger upgrade package?
Shay Varones wouldn’t turn that down, and brought his new GT500 over to Downs Ford Lincoln Mercury for some serious upgrades.
After they got the Ford Racing supercharger kit installed on this black beauty, they brought the car on over to Big Daddy Performance in Lakewood, NJ for the tuning expertise of Mike and Dwayne. Right out of the box with no significant changes, the car put down 675 HP and 629 Tq. to the wheels. It was going to take a little more than that to satisfy Mike and Dwayne, so they quickly got to work on a custom in-house tune for this pony, then brought her back on to the dyno for some huge improvements – a hoof-pounding 729 HP and 677 FT Lbs. of torque at the rear wheels. Making one wonder, with a few tuning adjustments, Ford’s “750HP” upgrade kit is really pushing more than that at the crank. Checkout the dyno video here
Rolling on the factory wheels makes this nearly a racecar in disguise that will have no problems showing the local racers who is boss from stoplight to stoplight. With some luck, we just might get to see this GT500 hit the 1/4 mile to see where it stacks up amongst all the other modern muscle car warriors but for now, we’ll have to settle for listening to that sweet blown mod-motor on the dyno.
