Ringo Starr’s 1968 Ford Mustang Up For Auction

The chances that a car for sale, previously belonging to someone named Richard Starkey, would draw much interest are small. Knowing that Richard’s stage name was Ringo Starr, however, might improve the prospects for selling that car somewhat.

The 1968 Mustang that did belong to Starr will come up for auction this weekend at the online site, LiveAuctioneers.com. According to the listing, the Candy Apple Red notchback has logged just 62,000 miles and the current owner bought the car directly from the Beatles’ drummer.

Now repainted and with a restored interior, the 289 cui V8 car with automatic transmission has not been driven since the purchase was made in 1991. All movement of the Mustang has been done by flatbed truck. The successful bidder will also received the original pink slip for the car, signed by Richard Starkey.

According to the auction site, the winning bid is likely to be in the range of $15,000 to $17,000, which we find a bit surprising given the car’s provenance and Starr’s familiarity across several generations. Perhaps there’s an opportunity to pick this pony up and flip it at a Barrett-Jackson event. If that’s not your scene, then you’ll probably need to pick up a “Love Peace” T-shirt for driving around in this Mustang.
