Reggie Jackson has forever earned himself a place in the baseball Hall of Fame for his outstanding post season performances with four different baseball teams. Jackson, currently a special advisor to the New York Yankees (where he helped win two consecutive World Series Championships) is also a devoted car collector.
Mustangs Daily reports that one of his prize vehicles, a 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350, is rolling out to auction this may at the inaugural Auburn Spring Collector Car Show by RM Auctions..
The 1965 Shelby GT350 is one of the most sought after collectors cars on the market, and Reggie’s pristine example is valued at between $175,000 and $225,000. The car is “mostly original,” which hopefully means it still has the right K-code 289 engine. It’s clear that the body and paint have been meticulously maintained. It is just one of 562 1965 Shelby GT350’s ever built, and a number of those cars have been wrecked or lost to time, whittling the numbers down even further.
RM calls Reggie Jackson a “friend” and it should be no wonder why, as the baseball Hall of Famer is a veritable muscle car nut. Exactly how many cars he has, we don’t know, but a Google search of “Reggie Jackson’s car collection” yields a number of results. He auctioned off a large chunk of his collection last year, including a ’41 Willy’s coupe and an original ZL-1 Camaro. Now here goes his Shelby GT350 too. We suppose Mr. Jackson might be winding down, and spending some quality time with each before letting them go. So if you’ve got an extra $200,000 lying around, here’s your chance to cash in on a piece of history owned by a historic baseball player.
