There’s no question that the team at ProCharger, as any manufacturer would, takes great pride in producing some of the most powerful centrifugal superchargers in the racing industry, but in the very same regard, the company also proudly revels in the race winners, the record-setters, and the champions that are powered by their F1, F2, and F3 lineups of race blowers. As each racing season comes to a close, the marketing team at ProCharger honors their champion customers from throughout the sport. Last year, the company proudly boasted seven different champions in five different racing venues, and 2012 could well top those numbers.

Last weekend, ProCharger played a role in a bit of history, as their superchargers powered the winner and runner-up in the last NMRA Super Street Outlaw race in history, and at the same time, propelled longtime customer John Urist to a record eighth and final championship in the category at the NMRA All-Ford World Finals in Bowling Green, Ky.

It was fitting that Urist and Hines, both of whom have been longtime competitors in the category known as the “10-Inch tire Freak Show” that’s title sponsored by ProCharger, would square off in its last hurrah before the NMRA dissolves the category into a new eliminator known as Street Outlaw.

Hines, in his 2001 Mustang, paced the field with his killer 7.03 in qualifying, just missing the magical six-second mark that he and others in the category have been after for in recent seasons. Urist trailed just behind at 7.09.

On Sunday, Urist and Hines battled it out for the final Super Street Outlaw trophy, and he’s done countless times before, it was Urist, the new champion, scoring one last piece of hardware, downing the out-of-shape Hines in the final, 7.26 to a slowing 7.77.

With the title in hand, Urist scored his record fifth-straight and eighth overall, making him not only the most decorated NMRA racer of all-time, but one of the most successful ProCharger customers year in and year out.
