Pimp My ‘Vert: Retractable Hardtop GT for Sale

SEMA Photos: Mustangs Daily, Others: Galpin AUto Sports

It’s been a long time since a domestic car has seen a retractable hardtop, but this looks surprisingly good on the contemporary Mustang. Don’t go rushing off to your local Ford dealers, though, unless you’re in North Hollywood where this one-of-a-kind Mustang currently resides.

Designed by Joseph Adjwok and built by Galpin Auto Sports, a division of Galpin Ford, this project was displayed at the 2010 SEMA Show. The crew at Galpin have a long history of building custom cars, through the popular MTV show, Pimp My Ride and that experience shows in the quality of the work that is evident in the photos.

What started life as a regular production Mustang GT convertible soon became a horse of a different color. Aside from the hardtop conversion, the pony was refinished in PPG custom Orange Pearl paint and fitted with a custom leather interior with complementary orange pinstripe accents.

The distinctive front end treatment comes courtesy of a Classic Design Concepts front spoiler, while the stance is from the installed Ford Racing Handling kit and 20-inch wheels. In operation, the flush-fitting retractable tonneau cover automatically stows the roof away from the luggage area, leaving room for storage.

With its standard 5.0-liter engine and 6-speed automatic transmission, carefree cruising will be available wherever you go, whatever the weather. If you can’t live another day without this unique Mustang in your driveway, you can get pricing details from Galpin Auto Sports at 877-GO-GAS-GO (877-353-1735).
