Cars and creativity have always gone hand-in-hand, and with today’s technological advancements, just a few hundred bucks worth of camera equipment can allow almost any amatuer to put together a fun and entertaining video of one’s automotive antics. It has literally never been easier to shoot and edit your own film, for personal enjoyment or for sharing with the wider world.

To celebrate and acknowledge these creative types, Optima Batteries held its first ever Optima Ultimate Film Festival, taking entries from all over the world in a bid to win one of several video categories. The votes have been tallied and the winners have been chosen for what is hopefully just the first of many future fan film festivals.

There were two categories to choose from, “Short Film” and “Action Cam”, with 17 finalists picked from among thousands of entires. The winner of the “Action Cam” video is by far our favorite, and was submitted by Dom Tucci of Tucci Hot Rods. Called “Mustang Donuts with Donuts”, the short, simple video features precisely that; some delicious donuts being munched upon inside a Mustang, doing donuts. It’s fast, fun, and most importantly of all, entertaining.

We’re also fans of the Action Cam runner-up, which is basically just two minutes of unfiltered, vintage racing footage and sounds shot from various angles at classic racing events. From diminutive Minis to classic Mustangs, there are thrills, chills, and even an ugly accident all caught on camera. A couple of decades ago this technology was reserved only for those with the deepest pockets, but today we can all enjoy the creativity of the average car guy.
