As part of the Woodward Dream Cruise weekend near Detroit, MI, Ford’s Mustang Alley is the largest single nameplate event during the weekend. Nine Mile Road in Ferndale, MI, is typically lined with 500 Mustangs of all years.
For the 13th edition of Mustang Alley, the get together has grown beyond a single day car show. On Friday, participants will be able to take a tour of the AAI Assembly plant on nearby Flat Rock, MI, where Mustangs are built.
Meanwhile, planning is ongoing for a Dearborn Development Center Track Event on the Saturday. This event is limited to 200 participants, but by all accounts, past activities were out of this world.
Part of the Mustang Alley charter, in sync with the rest of the Woodward Dream Cruise, is to support local charities. Last year, the Alley raised $10,000 through T-shirt sales, raffles and the Charity Auction.
You never know what’s going to show up at the Auction, but chances are pretty good that it has to do with Mustangs and some things may have fallen off a truck near the assembly plant or one of the engineering labs.
At the moment, almost 250 cars have already registered, which puts the event near half capacity right now. The Woodward Dream Cruise is always scheduled for the third Saturday of August every year. Access to Mustang Alley will open around 7:30 a.m. that morning and the entry fee is $20 per car. For more information, or to regsiter your Pony, check out the event web site.
