Steve Saleen has been building awesome racing Mustangs since the early 80s, and he has carried that tradition of performance forward into the 21st century. He has built some crazy cool cars in his time, and many limited edition vehicles that drive collectors wild. A few of these cars, like the 1998 Saleen Mustang SA-15, were built in very low numbers. Just 10 examples of the SA-15 were built, and all of them were snapped up by collectors almost immediately.
So when one of these rare Saleen Mustangs goes up for grabs, you had better get those wallets ready. RK Motors Charlotte is selling one of just 10 SA-15 Speedster Mustang convertibles ever built right now, and at the bargain price of just $46,900. If you’re a Saleen collector, you don’t want to miss this ride.
Built in 1998 to celebrate Saleen’s 15th anniversary, the SA-15 Speedster featured a 320 horsepower supercharged 4.6 liter V8. It was backed by a Tremec 5-speed transmission, a 3:55 limited-slip differential, a Racecraft suspension, and most unique of all, color-matched wheels. In this case its an impossible-to-ignore yellow convertible that also includes the color-matching Speedster toneau cover as well.
This car, #5 of 10, has led a pampered life and maintains all its original body panels. It is a collector piece, which explains why it has just 400 miles on the odometer. It isn’t even really broken in, and for $46,900, it is a (comparatively) affordable addition to any Mustang collection.
If you ask us, it could use a for more miles as well…you know, just to make sure it still drives as well as it did in 1998. With Saleen celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, it would also make a great present to that Saleen fan in your life if you’re the kind of person with money and means to buy a 15 year old car like this one.
