It’s that time of year again. When the fastest blue oval street cars gather to race. We’re quickly approaching one of the most exciting events of the year. We’re talking about the NMRA World Finals – which is a 4 day event that starts this Thursday, October 1st, at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The NMRA World Finals is known as the biggest “All Ford” event, with blue oval enthusiasts look forward to it ever year. Nitto Tire is once again is the title sponsor for this event.
New for the 2015 year of the NMRA World Finals, the event will now showcase a Test and Tune session on Thursday, October 1st from 1pm to 6pm. If that doesn’t already get you excited, then we know you’ll love this. If you’re looking to participate in the event, there’s no additional cost to you, as it’s included in the race entry. We recommend getting there early, as the gates open at 11:00 AM, with tech being open until 2:00 PM.
Friday, October 2nd will also be a very big day at the 17th annual event with the Racer Appreciation Party. Nitto has planned to a special event (which has now become traditional) from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM for all racers, family, crew, sponsors, media, and vendors that attend the event. The party will have over 200 pizzas, 4 ice-cold kegs of beer, and a variety of other non-alcoholic beverages. With last year’s appreciation party attracting over 500 spectators, you can bet Nitto has come prepared this year.
The new events, parties, and coverage at this year’s World Final events has been tactfully planned ahead for by Nitto to allow for more space and more excitement this time around. One thing we’re sure you’re all aware of, is that while this is the World Finals for the NMRA, it’s also home to the world’s largest Ford gathering as well. Many blue oval enthusiasts (not just Mustang owners) meet at the four day event in Bowling Green, Kentucky to enjoy the company of fellow enthusiasts, and participate in the available racing events.
This year the World Finals will play host to the first ever after-hours Grudge Night event on Saturday, October 3rd. The Grudge Night begins after the normally scheduled NMRA qualifying which is scheduled to end at 5:30 PM. Just like traditional grudge racing, these “no time trial” races allow competitors to compete under several predetermined “locked-in” grudge races. You also have the option to call out another racer if you’d like.

Other new special this year include the EcoBoost challenge, which is a heads-up drag racing event sponsored by Keystone Automotive and SVTPerformance.com. Any EcoBoost powered vehicle is open to joining this event, and many of the aftermarket modifications available are allowed. And the best part is, you don’t have to have a membership to participate.
If you own a ’03-’04 Terminator Cobra or ’07-’14 Shelby GT500, we highly recommend entering the VMP Tuning Terminator vs GT500 Shootout. Sponsored by Nitto Tire and VMP Tuning, this event takes place on Saturday, October 3rd. Each participant receives a free entry into Saturday’s HP Tuners sponsored True Street class, as long as you meet the class requirements.
Tremec True Street is always huge at the World Finals and this year is once agian sponsored by Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords. The 30-mile cruise through the south-western Kentucky countryside is always beautiful (and police escorted) and there will no-doubt be plenty of very fast cars packing out this class.
There’s a ton more information on the events for this year’s annual NMRA World Finals, as well as class rules and event calendar for you to view on the NMRA’s website.
We recommend taking a look for yourself, as you’ll be able to find more information regarding activities for spectators, racers, and pricing. We’re excited to see everyone at the four day weekend event, and if you can’t make it, be sure to check back at StangTV and on the StangTV Facebook page all weekend long for cool videos, hundreds of photos and results as fast as we can post them.
