Mustang Sales Down, Still Beats Camaro And Challenger

Check out our review of the GT vs EcoBoost Mustangs here.

For the first time since October of last year, sales of the sixth-generation Mustang have declined slightly to just under the monthly 8,400 units sold mark.

Nevertheless, the blue oval still manages to outsell the Camaro and the Challenger for over a consistent year, since the release of the sixth-gen Mustang

In our opinion, this comes to us as no surprise, as there’s a lot to like about the latest generation Mustang.

Advancements over previous generations like the all-new independent-rear-suspension, and available engine options like the 2.3 liter EcoBoost turbocharged inline-four-cylinder, give enthusiasts looking to purchase a Mustang options which were not available as of a decade ago. In fact, many younger buyers are now flocking towards the EcoBoost equipped Mustang – and it’s easy to see why. Admittedly, even we’re drinking the EcoBoost kool-aid – but can you blame us? Project 5-Liter Eater is just begging to be modified – and who are we to say no?

The point we’re trying to make is that the Mustang is well-known for being the worlds most modified car, which we’re sure is another reason why the car has had a linear sales progression this year.

The Mustang has sold over 113,000-plus units thus far this year, and will take the crown as the best selling car of ’15 between the big three pony cars.

We’re extremely confident in Ford’s ability to earn the title as the world’s best-selling sports car – a title which has rightfully been earned by the amount of units sold over this year. What are your thoughts?
