Mustang Girl Monday: Stephanie Davies Makes a Career with Mustangs

It’s Mustang Girl Monday brought to you by Team Mustang Girls. This week we would like to introduce Stephanie Davies – hey wait, Steph Davies writes for us.

Stephanie admits she wasn’t always a Mustang girl. Growing up, she wanted a Jeep Wrangler in the worst way. Originally from New Jersey, where you don’t get your license until you turn 17, Stephanie began her search for a car at 16. She had an idea of what she wanted, but couldn’t seem to find anything in good running condition.

Luckily her dad was pretty dead-set on buying a Ford, as her entire family has driven them for years. “I grew up around his 1966 Fairlane 427 R-Code car, and I can remember the track days, and crawling over the bench seat and scrambling through the cage as a little kid. Ford trucks and SUVs are really all I remember traveling in my entire life”. When her older brother turned 16 three years before her, he bought himself a 1988 Mustang 5.0 notchback. Stephanie thought it was really cool, but she wasn’t sold on the idea of one for herself.

Fast-forward to July 2006, a few months before her 17th birthday. Stephanie’s dad called her as she was laying on the beach with her friends. A buddy of his was selling a 1989 Mustang 5.0 LX hatchback and was willing to give them a great deal on it. Stephanie ended up caving in, and brought the beautiful blue Fox home soon after. “That’s about the moment I fell in love with Mustangs – the feeling of a Fox-body’s raw horsepower just can’t be matched”. Unfortunately, a bad wreck would take it from her just a month and a half after she got her license. She moved on to buy another 1989 – this time a convertible. Stephanie and her dad restored it together, and she drove it for three and a half years, before deciding it was time to move on up.

That’s when Stephanie’s green 1992 5.0L came into the picture about five years ago. She bought it stock, and it has since had quite a bit of work put into it.“I’ve built a career around these cars, first working for Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords before being switched over to a host of other car magazines within what was formally Source Interlink Media”. When Stephanie was unfortunately laid-off last year, she began freelancing for a number of automotive news outlets including our very own, StangTV from time to time, and was later hired by ROUSH Performance full-time. “Now I get to be around incredible, high-powered Mustangs every single day, there is a Fox in my garage, and I feel like I’m pretty lucky that my dad was able to convince me to buy one eight years ago”.
