Happy 50th Mustang Girl Monday! To celebrate this special occasion Team Mustang Girls would like to introduce you to Texas Mile racer, Angelique Bonilla.

Angelique’s first mustang was a 1991 Fox Body 5.0, white with red interior. She started taking the car to the drag strip and got her first taste of speed. Then she found the Texas Mile, a high speed shoot-out on a straight 1 1/2 mile section of open tarmac in Beevile, TX. The three day event happens twice a year and brings out some of the worlds fastest motorcycles and vehicles.

Angelique started out as a spectator but didn’t stay that way for long. “The Texas Mile is the first BIG race event that I’ve truly fallen in love with. My passion for the event started my first mile and has become a growing addiction.” Angelique has proven that over the years by racing 3 Shelbys at the event. Her first Shelby was a blue and white 2007, properly named Miss America. Next up was The Prom Queen, a 2008 white and blue Shelby. And now she’s moved up to her current car, 825, a black and red 2014.

Angelique’s top speed in her current Shelby is 184 mph. “I was hopping for 190’s but I will go back and get my 190!” She currently holds the record as the fastest girl in a Shelby at the Texas mile . She plans on taking on the challenge again in March and is happy to have a great crew by her side. Van Collier with Revan Racing Inc. helps prep the car before each race and gets Angelique ready with race pep talks. One day Angelique hopes to be the first female driver of a Shelby Mustang to break into the 200’s. “The one thing that drives me to reach my goal is my Father! The wings on my helmet and shirts are in his memory. He is my inspiration and the wings represent him with me as my guardian angel”.
