A place called RK Motors, located in Charlotte, isn’t playing around when it comes to their 1970 Ford Mustang “Boss Snake”. Yes, you read that correctly, it is called the Boss Snake. The name came from Kaucher Kustoms, which fitted the ‘Stang with a Jon Kaase engine and did everything to this car – from nose to tail
The heart of the matter is a Boss Nine V8 John Kaase racing engine – a whole 520 cubic inches sitting under the redefined hood of this 1970 Boss Snake. Shifting goes to a Tremec T-56 Magnum transmission and according to recent dyno testing, this Mustang is capable of 770 horsepower and 720 lb-ft of torque. To help handle some of this, an upgraded suspension was installed.
This bright classic features a pearly Goodguys Yello PPG paint job, complete with satin black accents including racing stripes. Looking closely, a hint of red pin stripes add subtle attention to detail. The hood was filled and redone, and the side scoops have been relocated and filled in.
The front end has been tweaked some to fit modern halogen headlights into the grille as well as a fiberglass GT500 nose with a flush bumper. The marker lamps have been smoked and the addition of a chin spoiler gives it a menacing appeal. To cap it off, add the hood scoop and the Ring Brothers hood pins, and it looks like the beast that it is.
The mirrors have been painted to match the body, and the yellow is broken up by a rocker stripe with its name “Boss Snake” outlined into the stripe. A custom black rear valance helps break up the yellow along with Shelby smoked tail lights, and the car features Ring Brothers door handles, a flush rear bumper and roll pan fitted to accompany center-exit exhaust tips. The interior is leather with old school cooling and rack and pinion steering.
