McLeod Racing to Host Killer Clutch Shootout at NMRA Norwalk Event

Pete EspeutIt is said real race cars have three pedals. Of course, McLeod Racing is a champion of that notion, so the company is hosting a stick car shootout as part of the NMRA Ford Super Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio June 11th-14th.

Jeff Smith’s uses a McLeod RXT clutch in his Terminator, and runs in the mid-10s. Smith is on his second RXT clutch, after the first one lasted 2.5 years under endless 10-second abuse.

Here’s how it works. If you’re interested in getting in on the Killer Clutch Shootout at Norwalk, you enter the True Street class, and also let tech know your intention to compete in the shootout. The top eight manually-shifted True Street cars will receive a product certificate ($250 for the bottom six), and a custom plaque from McLeod Racing. From there, the top two stick-shift cars will compete on Sunday in a heads-up, winner-take-all, match race. The runner-up receives a $500 product certificate, but the winner receives a $1,000 McLeod Racing product certificate, and the title of Killer Clutch King of Ohio.

The NMRA Ford Super Ford Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park always has a large amount of True Street competitors, so the McLeod Racing Killer Clutch Shootout will have several contestants willing to duke it out. The Norwalk event is one of the largest on the NMRA circuit, with several races within the race, including the Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords All-Female Shootout, and King Ford, the largest All-Ford bracket race of the year. More information on the event can be found at www.nmraracing.com, or by calling (714) 444-2426.

Don’t forget about the ice cream.

Jeff Scofield also uses a McLeod Racing RXT clutch in his '14 Shelby GT500. Scofield's Shelby features a built bottom end, Kenne Bell 4.7-liter supercharger, and over 1,000-rwhp. The RXT enables Scofield to run deep into the 9s, yet enjoy daily-driver capabilities.
