While many hot hatch fans are probably saddened that the current Focus RS run is coming to a close with just 1,500 limited edition North American versions in the 2018 model year, there some bright spots. In fact, if you reside in the United Kingdom there is a bright orange, limited edition Focus RS that will help close on the run in style.

“Great when a crazy idea comes together: Very limited edition of just 50 Tief Orange Focus RS in the year that celebrates 50 years since the first sporting Escort appeared,” Chairman and Managing Director, Ford of Britain, Andy Barratt said on social media. “This heritage edition pays homage to those early cars.”

In fact, the iconic twin-cam variant of the Escort took the win in the Circuit of Ireland Rally shortly after its debut back in 1968 and Ford compact machines have enjoyed success in performance venues since that time.
Of course, in honoring a historic sporting milestone, you would expect these cars to have more than just a unique color. We suspect they will be equipped like the Europe-only Option Pack, which shares many of the US/Canada Limited Edition models, like gloss-black exterior accents, carbon fiber covering on a few interior bits, along with the Miko-Dinamica Recaro seats being standard.
Time will tell exactly what this limited run of Focus RS will offer, but these rare machines are sure to be appreciated by enthusiasts long after the last of these drift out of dealer lots.
