Ford Motor Company officially made its entrance into the South Amiercan market with the introduction of the sixth generation Mustang at a recent unveiling of the all new S550 at the Blue Oval Headquarters in Mexico City, Mexico. Not only has the all-new Mustang now officially made an entrance into the Mexican market but a special limited edition Mustang commemorating the career of Mexican racer car driver, Freddy Van Beuren, was revealed at the event as well.
Freddy Van Beuren is most well-known for piloting one of only 26 GT350 Rs that Carroll Shelby Racing built to a victorious championship in 1967 B-Production racing . Celebrating its entrance into the Mexican market, Ford Motor Company, has dressed the limited edition Mustang in the national Mexican livery of the vertical tricolor combination of green, white, and red that was also on the original GT350 Rs owned and driven by Freddy Van Beuren.
There was little information released on the specs of this package yet. Based upon photo images we can clearly see the badging of the 5.0. With official press release available for us to provide further information at this time it’s unclear what the limited edition Freddy Van Beuren Mustang will be sporting, if any performance enhancements to the basic GT model. We can share that only fifty units will roll off the assembly line, making this an instant collectible. It is estimated the car will be sold at $100,000 USD.
To ensure the future survival of the Mustang, Ford is rolling out the car on global scale to 120 countries. In essence the sixth generation pony is writing a new chapter in American muscle car history with one chapter of the 120 chapters beginning in Mexico. What do you think of the Mustangs global expansion and can we expect the unveiling of more special edition Mustangs in coming months in celebration of fifty years of the iconic horse?
