After Ford announced their 50th Anniversary Mustangs at the Detroit Auto Show, they also had another surprise up their sleeve, some limited 50th anniversary Shelby Cobras starting at $69,995 without any options, just a fiberglass roller designed to fit the 289 cubic-inch V8. After 50 of these limited editions were announced, they were sold out within hours and for some of Shelby’s hardcore fans, that may mean trying their hand at the lottery.

According to Autoweek, there is a nice surprise on the way. There’s one 50th anniversary Shelby Cobra and it will be cross through Scottsdale’s Barrett-Jackson next year for 2013. Not only that, but it’s no roller. Have no fear Shelby guys, this one is going to be a raffle! This one won’t be crossing the block for the highest bidder. Not much is known about the raffle car just yet, but we think it has the 289-cubic inch V8 ready to roll, or fly with 475-HP in such a light car weighing in at a mere 2,200 lbs. One lucky winner will be announced next January so make sure you get a raffle ticket, or ten.

The raffle tickets start out at $25 a piece or five for $100. All proceeds from the raffle will be given to the Carroll Shelby Foundation, providing financial assistance to families of children suffering from and battling life-threatening illnesses.

The raffle Shelby is also scheduled to make an appearance at the Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance, the Dana Point Concours d’Elegance and the Barrett-Jackson auction in Orange County, Calif.

All of the limited-edition 50th anniversary Shelby Cobras were painted Shelby black with a wine-colored interior. They also feature special badges and wire wheels. The winner of the raffle Shelby will have his or her name on the Shelby registry, meant for anyone who has had their hands on any of the Carroll Shelby built creations.
