Though the city-state of Dubai, a part of the United Arab Emirates, is infinitesimally small by most measures, it is a place of great wealth that has made it a sort of automotive mecca. Many of the world’s most expensive cars permanently reside in the desert kingdom, and automakers have been quick to take advantage of residents’ newfound wealth by introducing new vehicles and models tailored specifically to Dubai’s tastes.
Ford has recently pledged to introduce some 30 new models across the Middle Eastern and North African markets. This includes Dubai, which just hosted its national auto show where Gymkhana star Ken Block was on hand to present a unique Ford GT painted in Liquid Red to Sheikh Hamdan, the Crown Prince of Dubai, reports Carscoops.
The 32-year old prince, whose father responsible for Dubai’s meteoric rise to global prominence, is also an unabashed automotive fanatic with one of the world’s most extensive, and expensive, automotive collections. Housed in miniature pyramids and open to the public, it is a grandiose collection worthy of a crown prince.
The Crown Prince’s stature as an automotive collector is probably why Ken Block was on hand to debut the all-new Liquid Red version of the Ford GT. We’ve mostly seen the Ford supercar in the striking blue color, as well as covered in Le Mans livery, but this new red hue allows us to appreciate the GT on an entirely different level.
