How The Strange Engineering HD Pro Aluminum Case Is Built

Consumers often select products off of the shelf or place an order online, but rarely do they have the opportunity to learn what goes into making these products. Fortunately, Strange Engineering has provided consumers with a chance to see what goes into making its HD Pro Aluminum Case.

In the video, viewers learn about the various stages of production that are required to produce the HD Pro Aluminum Case. At the beginning of the process, each case starts as a heat-treated, 206-T4 heated treated aluminum casting. One of the benefits is this aluminum it has 32-percent higher tensile strength when compared to the 356-T6 material. Higher tensile strength results in a stronger, more durable product that will meet the demands of street and strip applications.

In the first step of the machining process, flats are created where the case unites with the housing and the pinion supports along with the flats for the billet aluminum main caps. Once the intensive machining process is complete, each unit is fully inspected, deburred, and all finishing work is completed by hand. After the threaded adjusters and locking hardware are installed, each unit is drilled for the countersunk bolt holes.

Finally, the Pro HD Aluminum case is ready once the threaded inserts are installed. Although this is a condensed synopsis of the process, it provides insight into hard work that goes into each unit manufactured by Strange Engineering. The company’s HD Pro Aluminum Cases are designed for 9-inch and 9-1/2-inch gear sets and you can learn more about them here.
