Earlier this month, one of the grandsons of the late Carroll Shelby, Aaron Shelby, took delivery of this brand new Shelby GT350 – which is serial number 50 of 100 being produced.
Thanks to Mustang6G forum user jedirocker who was able to capture this amazing moment, where the event took place at Five Star Ford in Plano, Texas.
The event brought with it many other Shelby car enthusiasts and a mini-meet took place during the time of purchase. Jedirocker, who was invited to cover the event, was able to snap some fantastic photography to document in it’s entirety – including snapping a few pictures of the three separate generations of GT350s together in one place, which is absolutely brilliant.
If you’re wondering why one of the grandsons of Shelby didn’t score an R model, there’s a good reason for that. In the thread, an additional Shelby grandson and recently acquired GT350 owner, replies that the recently purchased GT350 will be used mostly for daily duties, which includes transporting his children. The car is also equipped with the optional tech package that Ford offers. With kids, there’s usually a need for a rear seat, and likely air conditioning, and we’re not sure we’d want to get curb rash from the carpool line on our new GT350R either.
It’s well known that Aaron, along with his brothers, are big supporters of their late grandfather, Carroll Shelby and all things Shelby related. The brothers have attended many Shelby related events, and even host their own event every year, according to the thread on Mustang6G.
