The guys at GAS proudly displayed three of their wide-body Mustangs in their SEMA booth this past November which included an orange BOSS 302, their Candy Apple Red wide-body Supercharged GT built for SPX, and a black Shelby GT500. The red SPX hit the auction block last month at Barrett-Jackson and netted a healthy $160k to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
The duPont Registry is also known for the classics, but something about a mean 2012 Mustang GT wide-body convertible just might have you taking a modern turn. Ask the co-founder of duPont Registry, Thomas duPont, who added this specific Mustang into his own personal collection stealing the thunder from the Lamborghini California resting nearby. He plans to personally keep this galpinized Mustang GT ‘vert, well, unless the right buyer comes along.
Thomas himself calls this sinister Mustang an “eyeball show-stopper”. He also decided to go with the GT Premium package instead of some of the other powerful models due to simply “wasting tires”. For a car guy, he must be a little conservative. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. This Mustang is a one-of-a-kind attention-grabber and that 5.0-liter sure won’t disappoint either.
This 2012 dark gray Mustang convertible 5.0-liter V8 features a custom dark red interior with black stitching and piano accents. Aside from that, it has three-piece staggered Forgiato wheels beefing up that rear end. Stopping power can be trusted with a Wilwood brake package featuring drilled and slotted rotors. The suspension features Eibach lowering springs. A Magnaflow exhaust was installed for a menacing growl and an aesthetically-appealing deep chin spoiler for the front end. All of the above, plus the car, is about $82k.
What do you think about this one-of-a-kind GT ‘vert?
