Ford Mustang “Galpin Rocket” Going Topless In 2016

In November of 2014 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Henrik Fisker and Galpin Auto Sports (GAS) unveiled a prototype of the Galpin Rocket. Skip ahead to present time (9 months later) and you’re looking at their latest concept: the Rocket Speedster Concept. The Ford Mustang Rocket Speedster by GAS was found on display on the “concept lawn” at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, which is a charitable automotive event held every August in Pebble Beach, California. From the images on its website, there looks to be quite a few changes on the Rocket Speedster concept, both interior and exterior wise.

Apart from the obvious tonneau covering the back seats, the tail light housing has been painted to match the exterior color, and a few of the carbon fiber trim pieces painted as well. Speaking of that tonneau cover (which can be removed to reveal the rear seats) the Rocket Speedster does come with a convertible soft top, allowing for the car to have a roof in case of a weather emergency. The Rocket Speedster receives some interior changes as well. The current coupe version sports a carbon fiber trimmed interior and black leather Recaro seats, while the Rocket Speedster will have exterior color matched Recaro seats and interior trim.

At this time, GAS has commented that pricing hasn’t been set for the 2016 Galpin Rocket Speedster, but should not be much more than the current Rocket Coupe. Fisker and GAS plan to reveal the first ’16 production model of the Rocket Speedster for its world debut at the Amelia Island Concours de’Elegance on March 14th, 2016. We’ll be excited to see this beast in person, and we hope Fisker and GAS throw us a set of keys to the 725 horsepower version Speedster in the future.
