Perhaps the most replicated car on the planet is the Shelby Cobra, which created a craze of sorts when Carroll Shelby stuffed a big Ford V8 into a tiny British roadster. Nobody can be sure how many kit car replicas are out there, but they all adhere to the same classic design and style of the original Cobra. Too bad in the almost half-century since the first Shelby Cobra debuted, there has not been another car quite like it.

But if there was, what would it look like? Probably something similar to the Cobra Snakehead concept, the brainchild of Andrus Ciprian, who had the work published to Diseno-Art. We like what we see. Do you?

The Ford Cobra Snakehead concept borrowed from the original Shelby Cobra idea of stuffing a large engine into a small, lightweight car. The design study was more concerned about looks than power, though we imagine some variation of the new 5.0 liter V8 would be put to work were it a real car. The front end design language borrows heavily from the new Ford Focus, and this is quite clearly a 21^st century design here.

With seating for two, the Snakehead concept instantly recalls the ghosts of the original GT40 as well, and it looks quite stunning if you ask us. Of course, none of that matters because the chances of this car ever making it to production are nill, nada, zilch. But perhaps Ford is paying attention, and with the 50^th anniversary of the Cobra (and Mustang) fast approaching, perhaps the Blue Oval will surprise us.
