Yesterday was a proud day for Mustang enthusiasts, as history has been made with the very first of the new Shelby GT350s rolling off the line at Ford’s Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Flat Rock, Michigan. Ford Performance had a press release exclusively with executive chairman Bill Ford regarding the GT350 rolling off the line today.

“This is a special day for all Mustang enthusiasts.” said Bill Ford, executive chairman, Ford Motor Company. “We have taken the GT350 formula to the next level of innovation, style and performance. Today the legend continues.” During the press release, Ford continues with: The new GT350 is a special car. It takes Ford Performance to a whole new level. And the GT350-R, is the most track capable, street legal Mustang we’ve ever built to date. The new GT350R Mustang is the most athletic Mustang ever, designed to tackle the world’s most challenging roads and race tracks while creating an exhilarating experience for the driver.

The new GT350 and GT350-R are both powered by a naturally aspirated 5.2 liter Ti-VCT flat-plane crank V8 capable of 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, with the GT350-R weighing 130 pounds less than the GT350. Pricing has been leaked for both models, with the GT350 starting at $47,795 and the GT350-R starting at $61,295.

We recommend checking out the configurator here and building one for yourself, but you’d better hurry. The 2015 GT350 is super limited, however the 2016 run should be a little more plentiful, however, it is likely that most of those cars are already spoken for as well.
