Sometimes we get tired of the same old song and dance. So it is that the constant teasing of new cars can get rather tiring. We can only take so many up-close shots and awkward angles before our anticipation for a new car peaks. Roush Performance has always been one for drawing out a reveal for their new Mustang, including the 2013 RS3 models.
But this time they may have waiting too long. Over at FnSweet.com, an “independent community of Roush enthusiasts,” a dealer has blown cover and posted the first renderings and specifications for the 2013 Roush RS3 Mustang. We like what we see.
Keep in mind that these are just computer renderings. Even so, they align with the official teaser pics that Roush has been dangling in front of our eyes for the past week. While the looks aren’t a radical evolution from the 2012 Roush RS3 Mustang, there have been some definite changes and improvements, not the least of which is a new vented hood scoop, exhaust tips, and front fascia.
The changes are more than skin deep though. The 5.0 liter V8 engine gets a chunky power boost, from 540 horsepower to 565. Torque also improves from 465 ft-lbs to 505 ft-lbs, and you can bet the suspension has been worked over as well. Like previous RS3 Mustangs, there is a bevy of options, some carry-overs, others brand new, like a vent pod with an LED-lit boost gauge and 20-inch custom rims. We know this as the dealer also leaked the 2013 Roush RS3 ordering guide.
The cover has been blown, and probably not in the way Roush would have liked. Yet even on the computer, the RS3 Mustang looks drop dead sexy, so we really can’t wait for the official reveal and live pics.
