Epic Supercar Drag Race Puts Boss 302 Laguna Seca in the Mix

I would love to be the guys in this epic drag race video. The folks at Motor Trend were in the midst of their best drivers car shootout and they took the time out to run a massive 11 car drag race with all the contenders in an all out race for quarter mile glory. If you have been paying attention, you know that the Boss 302 Laguna Seca is a contender for the top honor for the best driver’s car of the year and the competition is very stiff. This isn’t a serious test that counts as part of the final criteria to find the winner it was simply for fun.

We all know you can’t take a car with 444hp like the Boss 302 LS and put it in a lineup of cars with the likes of the Mercedes SLS AMG, Nissan GTR, Ferrari 458 Italia, and the Lexus LFA and expect our favorite pony car to come out on top. The race even had a Corvette Z06 in the mix. You might be wondering how the Boss 302 LS did though, so read on. It is interesting to note that not one single run in any of the cars field put down in the quarter mile that was over 13 seconds. The slowest run was a 12.9 second time at 109.9 MPH and the Lotus Evora S put that time down.

The Boss 302 LS took the eight spot in the all out race with a time of 12.4 seconds at 115 mph. That put the Boss ahead of the Porsche Cayman R at 12.7 seconds at 111 MPH, the BMW 1 Series M Coupe at 12.8 sec and 110.2 MPH, with the Evora S in the last spot. Ahead of the Boss 302 in seventh is the Porsche 911 GT3 RS at 11.9 second and 120.7 MPH. After the Porsche in order from slowest to fastest was the Corvette Z06, the Lexus LFA, the SLS AMG, the Audi R8 GT, the Ferrari 458 Italia, and the top dog was the Nissan GT-R with a time of 11.2 seconds at 121.8. It’s worth noting that the five cars behind the GT-R all had a higher trap speed than the Nissan indicating that tire spin might have been a contributing factor for the GT-R win.
