eBay Find of the Day: Saleen S281 SEMA Mustang

Even though SEMA 2011 is still over six months away, we’re already salivating at the thought of the kind of Mustangs we’ll see there this year. One of the best known Mustang tuners in America is Saleen, and they always come to SEMA with some kind of impressive show car. Back in 2007 they first showed off this S281 Mustang, but brought it to the next level for 2010.

Now this Saleen SEMA S281 Mustang show car is up for sale on eBay, and with a Buy It Now price of just $59,990. That’s a bargain considering how well known this car is and how much work went into it.

We’re not sure how often SEMA show cars end up on eBay, though we troll the auction pages enough to know that this is a pretty rare occurrence. And it’s a Saleen on top of it, which any Mustang owner worth their rear-wheel drive has heard of. This car is almost completely a one-off custom, with Saleen starting with a Ford Mustang body-in-white and adding their own custom front and rear fascia, body panels, and hood. Painted black with incredible blue flames fanning off from the hood, this Mustang is an absolute head turner no matter where you go.

It’s no slouch either, as the supercharged 4.6 liter V8 makes 550 horsepower and 525 ft-lbs of torque, and is coupled to a six-speed transmission. A whole new suspension, brake setup, custom interior, and just about everything else on this car are top-notch quality. There’s way, way more than $60,000 into this particular Mustang just in parts, never mind labor costs. Did we mention it’s signed by Steve Saleen too? So whoever manages to snatch it up is definitely getting a unique car well worth the asking price, don’t you agree?
